In this 90 minute workshop, we’ll look at intermediate techniques in jazz comping that we can use to add variety and spice to chord changes. We’ll take the standard chords for “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” and explore when and how to use rhythmic variations, slides, transition chords, and chord substitutions to keep things fresh from one chorus to another.  

Level: Intermediate and up. We will be using jazz chords in different inversions. Chord diagrams will be provided.

Tuning: this workshop uses standard GCEA tuning. Both low G and high G welcome.

This workshop will be delivered online via Zoom. If you don’t have a webcam and just want to follow along, that is fine. You do not have to install special software – Zoom can run in your web browser. You will receive a weblink when you register.
