Jazz singer and songwriter Diane Nalini has released four critically-acclaimed CDs over the last 15 years, and will release a new album in December 2019. She writes and sings in four languages and has performed at jazz festivals around the world. Diane won second prize in the UK’s Young Jazz Vocalist of the Year awards in 2001, and was nominated for the Grand prix de jazz at the 2002 Montreal International Jazz Festival. Diane has given gala performances for President Bill Clinton and Sir Paul McCartney. The Montreal Gazette writes, “Diane Nalini has the voice, the phrasing, confidence, clarity and control to make a tune her own and turn it into a nuanced thing of beauty.”

She has been heard coast-to-coast on national radio, including several feature interviews on CBC’s The Sunday Edition as well as Radio-Canada’s Quand le jazz est là. An accomplished songwriter, composer, and lyricist, Diane has written or co-written songs that have been used in major Hollywood releases, indie films, television shows and video games. Diane is also the resident vocalist with the Ottawa Jazz Orchestra.

Diane teaches jazz singing both privately and in workshops and master classes. She also teaches in Carleton University’s “Learning In Retirement” programme, on topics ranging from the Art of Jazz Singing to the Physics of Music. She has taught songwriting workshops in Canada and the UK.

Diane has been studying with ukulele maestros Sarah Maisel and Craig Chee since 2016. She was thrilled to attend a week-long advanced workshop with jazz ukulele legend Benny Chong in 2017 at the Strathmore UkeFest, where she also performed with him.
