Blue Moon: Intro to jazz comping on the ukulele

In this workshop you’ll learn some basic jazz chords for the ukulele, including some nifty tricks that will help you navigate common chord sequences found in jazz standards. We’ll also cover some basic right hand techniques that will help your strumming achieve the ‘swing’ sound. We'll use the Rodgers and Hart standard "Blue Moon" as the basis for this workshop.
Level: Experienced beginners and up. Chord diagrams will be provided on handouts.
Enrolment is limited to 20 students to ensure that I can spend more time providing individual feedback as needed.
Tuning: we will use GCEA tuning - both low G or high G welcome
This workshop will be delivered online via Google Meet. Please ensure you are using a recent version of a compatible browser (Chrome, Edge, Mozilla Firefox or Safari)

Note: you will receive workshop handouts and high quality backing tracks for practice closer to the workshop date. This workshop will be recorded and you'll be able to stream a replay for up to 3 weeks afterwards so you can go over anything you found tricky in class.
Cancellation policy: Because class sizes are strictly capped, we are unable to issue refunds for missed workshops. However, you will have access to a high-quality video replay for three weeks after the session, giving you plenty of time to catch up at your own pace!
